Kundapur, May 7: A person, who sustained serious injuries when trying to stop the murder of a man by his younger brother, also has succumbed to his injuries now. With this, the number of people who died in the incident which happened at Bavaladi in Bijoor village near Uppunda has risen to two.
The quarrel between Nagaraj (45) and his younger brother, Santosh (21), both of whom were drunk, on silly pretext, had taken serious turn after Santhosh got angry and repeatedly hit Nagaraj with a wooden stick which his father used as walking stick. Babu (47), husband of Santosh's elder sister, had suffered serious injuries after he too was attacked by Santosh when he tried to shield Nagaraj. Babu, who had been hospitalized, breathed his last on the night of Sunday May 5.

Babu had been initially admitted as inpatient in the government hospital at Byndoor. As his condition was serious, he needed advanced treatment. He got discharged from the government hospital after he asked the doctor to discharge him, duly expressing his intention to get treated at Kundapur. Instead of going to the hospital, he neglected the advice of the doctors and returned home. He collapsed at his home on Sunday night and died.
Santhosh who was arrested by Byndoor station house officer, B N Timmesh and staff on May 4, is in police custody now. Police sources said that with the second death in the case, Santosh would be now booked under additional sections of Indian Penal Code.
