Moodbidri, Apr 6: "The BJP is not indulging in caste politics. The party is seeking votes on issues like nationalism and development. We are confident, the party will come out victorious with a thumping majority," said Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Mangalore.
Addressing the party workers at the Samaj Mandir here on Sunday April 5, Kateel said the party values the services of every worker of the party and that each of the sincere workers get a chance to become a leader. He said, he had been chosen as a representative of the party workers, for contesting the election from Mangalore. "I will work in a way that will not bring disrepute to the party and I will ensure that the workers of the party do not face injustice. My aim will be the development of Tulunadu," he declared.
Nalin Kumar spelt out his priorities as creation of agriculture-based jobs, widening Bangalore-Mangalore national highway into a four-lane road, introduction of additional train services etc. He called upon people to elect the BJP from every constituency in which it is fighting, for elevating the party to power and seeing Advani in the post of the Prime Minister.
Former Ullal MLA Jayaram Shetty asked the party workers to explain to the people the conditions that prevailed during the NDA regime in sectors like prices of essential commodities, availability of items and compare the same with the current situation. He accused the soft policies of the Congress and the UPA government for the worsening situation of terrorism activities in the country.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik pooh-poohed the malicious propaganda being indulged in by other political parties, that the BJP is anti-minorities. He cited the steps taken by the state Cheif Minister Yeddyurappa to treble the funds made available for minority development after taking charge, besides considerably enhancing funds for Backward Classes Development Corporation.
Ex-MLA Rukmaya Poojary said the BJP is the only party which can contain terrorism and provide a stable government if elected to power. Various leaders like K P Jagadish Adhikari, Vishwa Hindu Parishat Prakhand president K vishwanath Poojary etc., participated.
