Udupi, May 6: Indoor Stadium of Brahmavar Sports will be inaugurated on May 7 at Heranje, Heroor Village, Brahmavar.
K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Udupi will inaugurate the stadium, while Saraswathi Nayak, president, Chanthar grama panchayat will preside over the programme. Dr Kishore Kumar K C, director of Physical Education, Mangalore University, Madhukar M Shetty, honorary secretary, Bunt Sangha, Bengaluru, will be present as guest of honour on the occasion.
About the Brahmavar Sports Club
Brahmavar Sports Club was started in the year 2005 under the leadership of Chandrashekar Hedge and Dr Praveen Kumar Shetty as the founder president with the 11 members as the founders with the aim to recognise and highlight sports achievers of the region. Currently, nearly 225 members are there in the club. The club is working round the clock and has developed as one of the prestigious clubs in the entire state. The club arranges various campus to develop sporting spirit of sportsmen with the quality instructors throughout the year.
Every year, the club organises cricket tournament on August 15. On international sports day, the club honours various achievers in the field of sports of Udupi district. Every year, the club organises inter district tennis tournament as well.
For the service rendered, Brahmavar Sports Club has been awarded Udupi District Zilla Rajyotsava Award, State Sports Sponsor Award, Ekalavya Award of Alva’s, Moodbidri, and Best Sports Club Award by Bangalore Sports Club.
Brahmavar Sports Club has been set up on a two-acre land in which it has its own office, tennis court and now nearly Rs 60 lac worth indoor stadium is ready to be inaugurated. Two badminton courts, table tennis court, carrom, chess, and a 600-seat capacity hall is also included in the indoor stadium.
In near future the club is planning to construct a 25 meter swimming pool, 1,500-seat open air theatre, club house and other facilities.
Since three years, Chandrashekar Hedge is serving as president and Gregory D’Silva as general secretary of Brahmavar Sports Club.
