Hubballi, May 5: State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday May 5 expressed confidence about BJP winning both the by-elections of Kundagola and Chincholi with a huge margin of votes.
Speaking at a press conference here, Yeddyurappa said, "Congress is trying to win the Kundagola and Chincholi by-elections on the power of money. We will win due to the love and faith of the people. The whole coalition government has come to Kundagola. Money is flowing like water. People are sick of the infighting between Congress and JD (S). They will support BJP in the by-elections."
Polling for the by-election for Kundagola legislative constituency in the district of Dharwad and Chincholi in Kalaburagi district are going to be held on May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23. Congress and JD (S) are facing the election unitedly.
"I am not dreaming of becoming CM. The leaders of our party should not say that the coalition government will collapse. Let us take further decision depending on the verdict given by the voters on May 23. I request with our leaders with folded hands," added Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa also said, "BJP activists are being arrested and tortured due to the pressure of the home minister. We will hold protest against this in all districts on May 6. Home minister should not misuse his power.
"The coalition government said that they will waive the loans of farmers within 24 hours of assuming office. However, even after 10 months the loans are not waived. Now the CM has become a laughing stock as he is saying that he will write a regret letter to the farmers.
"The coalition government is not bothered about the drought. The differences between Congress and JD (S) is detrimental to the development of the state. Prime Minister Modi is being seen with respect throughout the universe. However, Siddramaiah is under the illusion that he will become great if he speaks cheaply about the PM," he said.
