Bengaluru, May 5: Senior police officers in city, on Saturday, held a meeting and decided to increase security at churches, malls, temples and public places. It was also decided to conduct inspections in sensitive areas and intensify patrolling.
The move comes after it was revealed that the bombers had visited Indian places like Bengaluru, Kashmir and Kerala before the terrorist attacks were carried out in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. Though this information was available earlier, it came from Sri Lankan authorities officially on Saturday.
Security drills will also be conducted in public places including bus stands, railway stations, airports, malls, cinema halls and hotels and commercial establishments to avoid any untoward incidents.
The police have also directed owners of commercial establishments to install CCTV cameras, maintain records of visitors and also verify their identity before letting them in.
The jurisdiction police were directed to pass on the message to the beat police to keep vigil on new tenants.
Directions were also issued to railways, KSRTC, BMTC and BMRCL to keep vigil on passenger movements and to update security protocol.
