Go to Pakistan if you want to celebrate it: Goa CM

Panaji, May 3 (IANS): One cannot criticise the country in the name of freedom of speech and those who want to celebrate Pakistan can go there, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday.

Speaking at a media event in the state capital, Sawant said that living in India and then abusing the country cannot be considered as freedom of speech.

He said: "Those who complain and say that freedom of speech in India is in danger now, should be reminded of excesses of state power during the Emergency era of the 1970s."

"You cannot criticise the country in the name of freedom of speech. If you live in this country and abuse this, it will not be accepted. It cannot be considered freedom of speech. Those who want to celebrate Pakistan, go to Pakistan. Do not stay in India," Sawant said at the function held in Panaji on Friday.

The Chief Minister added that many have forgotten about the era of Emergency, which was imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and said that "those who cry about lack of freedom of speech in contemporary times, should be reminded about the excesses against journalists and the Constitutional tenet of freedom of speech".

"Some speak about freedom of speech now. It is important to remember that during the Emergency, forget about writing, there was a ban on speaking publicly too," Sawant said.

"Journalism was started in this country keeping the independence of the country in mind. Some people have forgotten this. It is necessary, that those who raise the issue of freedom of speech should remember this," Sawant said.

The color of the BJP in the Kashmir Valley is not saffron but green. The right-wing Hindu Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), symbolized by the saffron color, is bleeding green in Kashmir, apparently for the upcoming parliamentary polls.

In Kashmir, saffron BJP turns green and in Goa CM admires Pakistan.

    Dear CM
Freedom of speech has given us right by the constitution of India.
We the citizen of India has got right to criticise the policy of Government.
And now Constitution questions the way of treatment of our PM with Jawans of this country and the minorities of this country., our PM jeopardise the constitunal
Offices like CBI, RBI, Judiciary and even the Election commission. And also jeopardise the whole economy of India by the uneducated economist.
We want to live in India with peace and prosperity but ministers attaches to BJP
gives provocative statements like you. Nobody wants to degrade our country but environment created by the BJP Government is intolerable.

If freedom of speech is there for you it is there for the CM too. You can't say what is provocative and what is not. Just few people feel the heat of actions of Govt you can't blame all Govt agencies r working under pressure. "WE THE PEOPLE" have more rights and the Govt elected by us has every right to govern the State to the best possible manner as the elected representatives feel. Just because few of them dis like the way the Govt works doesn't mean the Govt is at fault.
Wait till May 25th then you will know how the people have judged the Govt of last 5 years

What can you expect from a hard core chaddi bhakt. This is his normal talk. Indira Gandhi did it in a bold way - declaring emergency. He wants to do it clandestinely - without declaring emergency.

BJP Acharya Giriraj Singh famous for the jibe to Goa Chief Minister these days seems works as 'Pakistan Visa Minister' rather than working for 'Republic of India'.

These BJP leaders groomed in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which supported 'British Raj' and assassinated father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi shouts loud 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. But if you ask them to say 'Naturam Godse Murdabad' they evade questions and run for cover.

Let's not forget these are the children's of the fanatic organization of Jan Sangh, Hindu Mahasabha and RSS who celebrated and distributed sweets after the 'Gandhiji's' assassination. Now asking the regular Indian citizen's to go to Pakistan.

The Emergency was wrong, 70 years of rule since independence is wrong, what are these jokers doing in Independent India then ? Don't they belong to Pakistan that never had Independence nor had to fight for freedom - all they got was the land mass as a gift from India ?

Go, illiterate and ungrateful people, go to Pakistan and fight for a piece of land as the early leaders of Congress party fought for it. Make constitution that allows only YOU to live, not the rest of citizens of India in general, who what to live in harmony irrespective of religion they belong to.
