Social media hype: Messages which were widely forwarded by WhatsApp social media relating to this incident claimed that a wild boar had also died near the spot where Shetty had died, and the people were prompt in taking away the wild boar's body for meat, while utterly neglecting the mortal remains of the old man lying on the tracks. Kandlur police sub-inspector, Sridhar Nayak, said that he is not sure about the authenticity of the said information.
