Somwarpet, May 1: A mother and daughter who were working in a coffee estate were hacked brutally with machetes over the dispute of pathway in property.
This incident took place at Doddamathe village near here.
Kavita (45), wife of late Veeraraju and her daughter Jagashree (17) are the unfortunate victims who lost their lives in this barbaric act.
Both received severe wounds to their head, neck, hands and legs and bled to their death on the spot. Meghamadanraj, son of the deceased Kavita went in search for her as well his sister to the farmland as the mobile phone of Kavita was in switched off mode. There he came to know about this ghastly crime. He informed the locals immediately, who in turn informed the matter to the police. Somwarpet DySP Dinakar Shetty, police circle inspector Nanjundegowda and station officer Shivashankar visited the spot and conducted the inspection.
The locals accused the police of shifting the dead bodies without making use of the canine squad, though the same was available in the locality. DySP Dinakar Shetty pacified the locals and the area was searched using canine squad and the bodies were shifted to the hospital.
It is said that the dispute over the pathway in the property is the reason for these brutal twin murder. Police have taken three people, who used to quarrel often with the deceased woman, into custody and are interrogating them.
Jagashree was studying second PUC at St Philomena College of Hassan and had come home on account of vacation. Son Meghamadanraj is studying in eighth standard at Morarji Desai residential school at Virajpet.
