Margao, Mar 28: Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik has sought an immediate vigilance inquiry against then North Goa collector G P Naik in the case of the Land Conversion Sanad scam of Mapusa and demanded his suspension.

Sanad which was obtained by forging the signature of the property owner to make way for huge buildings, has been now unearthed as a scam. According to sources, the Sanad has been now withdrawn after the additional collector-II M P Parab investigated the matter and found out about the forgery.

This issue was raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature wing spokesman Damodar Naik in the assembly in January who had demanded a thorough probe of the matter.

According to MLA Naik, collector G P Naik had issued the forged NA Sanad on May 9,2006, on the pretext that it was signed by the applicant himself which has now been proved false.

The said applicant had signed before G P Naik on the said date while the genuine applicant had passed away six months before on October 26, 2005. Further, G P Naik also issued a forged form I and XIV of survey no.113/2 of Salvador do Mund village Bardez by forging LRC records.

”Now the Sanad scam has been unearthed and it has proved that the sign of the late property owner was forged. Therefore, I demand a thorough investigation of this matter and the culprits behind this should be brought to book”, said MLA Naik.

He (MLA) further said that a government officer like G P Naik infringes the act for their vested interest and ruins the legal aspects.

Officers like G P Naik should be put under the scanner and a vigilance inquiry should be conducted as soon as possible in this matter, he demanded.
