Udupi, Oct 17: As part of Karnataka Sambhrama 50, deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K Vidyakumari instructed officials to make all necessary preparations to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava in a meaningful and grand manner.
She presided over a preparatory meeting at the Rajathadri deputy commissioner's office hall in the city to discuss the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration.
The 69th Kannada Rajyotsava programme will be held on November 1 at the Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkadu, Udupi. The district in-charge minister will hoist the flag at 9 am and deliver a message. The programme will include a parade by police, excise, forest, home guards, NSS, NCC, scouts and guides, seva dal, and students from various schools. This will be followed by cultural group performances by students. She added that distinguished individuals selected for their achievements in various fields will be honoured at the event.
Dignitaries, elected representatives, freedom fighters, and achievers in sports at national and international levels will be invited with formal invitation cards. She urged government officials, staff, organizations, and the public to actively participate in the programme.
At 8 am on that day, a procession with the portrait of Goddess Kannada Bhuvaneshwari will start after performing rituals at the Board High School and proceed to Ajjarkadu Stadium. Various cultural troupes will raise public awareness about Karnataka's history, heritage, and traditions during the procession, alongside tableaux showcasing departmental projects.
She stressed maintaining cleanliness at the event venue and providing clean drinking water to the students and public participants. As per the state government's instructions, a replica of the Halmidi inscription, prepared by the Karnataka Shilpakala academy, will be installed at Bhujanga Park in Ajjarkadu on Kannada Rajyotsava Day.
Several subcommittees have been formed to ensure the success of the event, and she encouraged everyone to work together for the programme’s success.
The meeting was attended by district panchayat CEO Prateek Boyel, additional deputy commissioner Mamata Devi G S, additional superintendent of police, K S Hegde, city commissioner Rayappa, assistant director of Kannada and culture department Poornima, joint director of the industrial department Nagaraj V Nayak, DDPI Ganapati K, DDPU Maruti, and other district-level implementation officers.
