Mangaluru, Apr 25: As many as 13 students from Expert PU College, Mangaluru have been selected for the award of the prestigious 'Kishore Vygnanic Protsahan Yojana' (KVPY) scholarship sponsored by the science and technology deparment of the government of India.
In the KVPY competitive examination held in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the following students of Expert PU College have won the scholarship:
Bhuvan V B from Bengaluru - 84th all India rank
Akshay Jain from Chamarajnagar - 189th rank
Atharva N Pickle from Karwar - 347th rank
Ankith Vishal Pandith from Yellapur - 382nd rank
Vickson Steven D’Souza from Mangaluru - 504th rank
Yash Bannur from Vjayapur - 643rd rank
Sandeep S V from Bengaluru - 709th rank
R Chinmay from Ballari - 937th rank
Umm Kulthum from Mangaluru - 1072nd rank
Goverdhan from Tumakuru - 1431st rank
Adithi Kamath from Mangaluru - 1454th rank
Prameeth S from Kolar - 1474th rank
Aishwarya Bhat from Yellapur - 1533rd rank.
The above students wrote the KVPY written round of examination in November 2018. Now in the final interview round they have come out with flying colours at the national level. These students are eligible for a scholarship of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,20,000 per year.
The science and technology deparment of the government of India started Kishore Vygnanic Protsahan Yojana in 1999 with a view to promote students’ interest in basic sciences. The programme involves identifying talented students and making them pursue higher studies and research in basic sciences by lending scholarship for 5 years. These students are eligible to study in the prestigious institutions such as Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Indian Research Institute for Science Education and Research, etc.
The chairman of Expert Group of Institutions Prof Narendra L Nayak has congratulated all the KVPY achievers.
