Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 25: The congregation of the Ursuline Franciscan sisters held the celebration of perpetual profession on Wednesday, April 24 at St Joseph Church, Jeppu. Six sisters made their perpetual profession and offered themselves totally to the Lord and for His mission.

During the solemn Eucharistic celebration officiated by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru, the sisters professed their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in the presence of the officials and sisters of the congregation, parents, family members, well wishers and friends.

In his homily, the bishop said, “Through our vowed life, we are called to re-live the mission entrusted to us in our baptism. Jesus will accompany us in our life’s journey. Though God can do everything by himself he seeks cooperation from us human beings by giving us the divine call.”

These sisters were felicitated after the Mass. Sr Rita Vas in her felicitation message said that they need to remain focused to the Lord, be courageous in times of difficulties, troubles and temptations and firm till the end to follow the Lord wherever He leads.

This year, 17 sisters came forward to make their perpetual profession in the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation. They belong to Mangaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, North East provinces and African region.
