Dubai, Apr 23: Daiji Writers' Forum, founded in 1999 under the leadership of Ace Konkani writer, director, actor and activist Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, has made the remarkable journey in the field of Konkani language, art and culture worldwide. Several Konkani associations world-wide, especially in the gulf, have been inspired by this forum. Now, Daiji Konkani Writers Forum is all set to celebrate the glorious 20th anniversary in Dubai on April 26 at Emirates English Speaking School.
'Mamma Retire Zatha', a Konkani drama translated from Marathi, is ready to entertain the Dubai crowd on the occasion of 20th year celebrations. Already this near house-full drama is enacted by Daiji Rang Mandir artistes
Veteran Konkani writer Vally Vagga, who has rendered yeomen service to Konkani literature, will be awarded 20th Daiji literary annual award with Rs 75,000 cash prize on this event.
Maestro Event will manage the entire event.
A novel written by Senior Daiji writer Linus Moras Kadri will be released during the event. Twin music CDs of Apolinaris D’Souza Muscat will also be released.
The full length critically acclaimed stage play ‘Mamma Retire Zatha’ directed by Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, was originally written in Marathi by Ashok Patole and Maxim Rodrigues Bondel holds the rights to translate this memorable drama in Konkani. The play is expected to witness a packed full house gathering. The play was successfully staged more than 8000 time including Marathi and Hindi.
The story of ‘Mamma Retire Zatha’ is worth the watch for family audience especially for women. Mother plays an important role in upbringing and looking after the family but normally all her sacrifices go unnoticed in the family. In such a situation, if the mother retires from her responsibilities, what will be the situation of the family and what will be the gravity of impact? These questions are properly and effectively dealt in the drama.
Director Dayan D’Souza will himself appear in a lead role, supported by one of the most talented female actors of Dubai, Asha Correa. Nanu Marol, Laveena Fernandes, Adlin Aranha Konkani movie actress Ranjitha Lewis, along with three 'Kalakul' trained young actors Melvyn, Darrel will appear in key roles. Kalakul Rohan Lobo will render the music.
Ronald Colaco, philanthropist and NRE entrepreneur, who is known as a pillar of Konkani community worldwide, will be gracing the event as chief guest, Ronald Pinto of Hysnna International from Abu Dhabi and Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight System Dubai will be guests of honour for the event.

Besides its cultural identity in Konkani literature causes, ‘Daiji Dubai’ is also associated with many worthy social causes thereby motivating other people and organizations worldwide. Daiji Dubai is eagerly looking forward to present this event with a request to Konkani lovers across UAE to be present in large numbers.
