Mangalore: Bus Fares to be Slashed by 7.5% from Apr 1

Mangalore, Mar 25: Through a release, president of Canara Bus Owners Association Rajavarma Ballal has informed, that the bus fares will see a 7.5% reduction in the twin-districts from April 1 onwards. This will be applicable for both the Express and shuttle buses.

From October 15 last, bus fares had hiked by about 10%. Since then, diesel prices have come down but prices of oil, tyres and other spare parts remain the same. Hence, it has been decided to cut the fares by 7.5% over the board, he has explained.

In some routes, where the hike in bus fares had not be affected, the fares will remain unchanged, he has explained and requested the people to take this into account and extend cooperation to bus services. As no changes in fares for the first two stages had been affected in the last revision, this sector remains untouched, the release stated.

    EVEN THOUGH LATE IT IS A GOOD MOVE TO BRING DOWN THE BUS FARE.SHALISH YOU HAVE MENTIONED MANGALORE BUS SERVICE IS THE BEST IN KARNATAKA.FOR YOUR INFORMETION MANGALORE BUS SERVICE IS THE WORST IN KARNATAKA.THE REASON IS THEY TAKE THERE SWEET TIME TO START FROM CERTAIN POINTS.SECOND THING IS BEFORE THE PASSANGERS GETS DOWN THE CONDUCTOR SAYS RIGHT IN MOST OF THE CITY BUSES.THIRDLY THE TICKET IS MOSTLY NOT GIVEN IN HAND.FOURTHLY SMALL COINS ARE NOT GIVEN BACK.SO HOW CAN YOU SAY BUS SERVICE IS GOOD IN MANGALORE.

    Thanks Mr Ballal , Its really good to see there is continous focus on the public interest , and I believe that the mangalore bus service is the one of the best in entire karnataka ,I feel that the bad roads is also leading to a lot of wear and tear , if our local government extends their support to our bus service team , it will be much fairer to bus owners also

    I certainly agree with you Mr.Ashok, If they try to reduce the speed the wear & tear of the tyres is minimal. But the drivers dont think that way? The way they drive is horrible , Anyways lets hope for the best from Mr.Rajavarma Ballal

    Bringing down the bus fares is a step in the right direction. Once the price of a commodity goes up, it usually does not come down. At least in this case the adage is proved to be true: whatever goes up must come down!

    Good job Mr. allal and thanks for keeping your word to bring down the fares. Now that the fares have been reduced by 7.5%, we would also like to see the speed of the buses too be reduced by 50% due to which you will save a lot on wear & tear of tyres and spare parts and most importantly, loss of human lives as well.
