Madikeri, Apr 20: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat on Saturday April 20 said that BJP candidates are endangering the future of the country by asking for votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi alone instead of talking about their own achievements.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme here, Bhat said, "Even though these are national elections, it is not a good practice to seek votes only in the name of Narendra Modi. RSS cadres never worship any individual.
"In five years, Modi has done what could not be done in 65 years. He has achieved success in every level. That's why BJP candidates ask for votes in his name. Actually, the candidates should be electioneering based on their own achievements. They pale in front of Modi's achievements.
"Modi gives BJP MPs every support they need for the development of their constituencies. The candidates should have made use of that (financial) support. Some have done that, but still, it is dangerous to use only Modi's name," he said.
On the Grand Alliance of several parties including the Congress, Bhat said, "BJP at least has Modi. Others do not have anybody."
He also said that the respect that the surgical strikes on Balakot evoked for Modi has become a headache for the opposition parties. "Only Modi who has brought name to India in the eyes of the world is truly deserving of such honour," he said, pointing out that Congress leaders had done the same when Indira Gandhi had backed Bangladesh in its war against Pakistan in 1971.
