Mangaluru, Apr 20: After the polling for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency was concluded on April 18, BJP leaders from the district have rushed to Kasargod to undertake canvassing in Kerala for BJP candidates there.
Kasargod constituency will go to polls on April 23. Ravish Tantri Kuntar has been fielded there as a BJP candidate. Tantri is closely associated with Dakshina Kannada district, and BJP leaders have gone there to support his campaign.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, who is in-charge of BJP Kerala affairs, has planned to continue with the techniques the leaders used in Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency there. BJP Dakshina Kannada unit president, Sanjeeva Matandoor, former MLAs, Monappa Bhandary and Capt Ganesh Karnik etc met at Kasargod BJP office and drew up plans. Local leaders like Srikant and Suresh Shetty are assisting these leaders. Nalin Kumar, Suresh Shetty, Rupesh, Capt Ganesh Karnik, and other leaders took part in the electioneering organized by Kumble panchayat unit of BJP on Friday. They sought votes on behalf of Ravish Tantri.
BJP leaders at Kasargod feel that BJP can now match up to the level of campaigning carried out by Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) there. Just like in Dakshina Kannada constituency, initiatives like house to house visits, meetings of Page Prmaukhs etc are being undertaken in Kasargod. In Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala, BJP has taken Sabarimala controversy as a major issue. UDF candidate in Kasargod, Rajmohan Unnithan, too has been seeking votes by criticizing LDF for Sabarimala fiasco.
