Mangaluru, Apr 17: All 842 tickets, which were available for reservation in Yashwanthpur-Karwar-Yashwanthpur special train that is being run to enable people of coastal Karnataka living in Bengaluru to cast their votes, were booked within seven hours since the announcement about the special train was made.
All 217 AC class and 625 sleep class seats of this train stand booked.
The railways, at the request of election commission and organizations from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, had arranged for running this train from Bengaluru to Karwar via the city on April 17. The train helps voters from Bengaluru to cast their votes in their native places spread over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on April 18. This train will begin its return journey from Karwar on the evening of April 18.
In the meanwhile, there has been demand to run another special train to enable voters currently residing in Bengaluru to cast their votes in Byndoor segment of Shivamogga constituency and Uttara Kannada constituency, both of which will go to polls on April 23. An organization from Kundapur has already submitted a request to state chief electoral officer on this issue.
