Mangalore: Bishop Aloysius Condemns Increase in Communal Violence

Mangalore, Mar 20: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza condemned the rising incidences of communal violence all over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, which are increasing suspicion among the people of various faiths and religion causing fear.

He said that those propagating such evil should be curbed from endangering religious and human values.   

The Bishop also urged all religious leaders and human rights activists to collectively oppose such unreligious acts.

He said that Indians by and large lived peacefully and harmoniously with their diverse culture and religions over the past many centuries.   

Bishop D’Souza also urged the district administration of undivided Dakshina Kannada district to punish all those involved in such activities.

    Religion denotes LOVE not HATE.But is very sad to note that people are spreading hate than love in the name of religion. If politician are playing a dirty game let us, the general public try to put them in their place by spreading love & respect every religion.

    Taking a stand is the need of the hour. A place where all festivals were celebrated collectively and feeling of love and affection was always there and such a peaceful place is disturbed by certain anti social elements and feeling of hatred is spread in the name of culture etc should be dealt with unity by all section of people of all religion. This is the only way to teach a good lesson to such people who are spreading violence and hatred.

    Very timely and appropriate statement by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza. We encourage all religous leaders denounce violence and condem attacks on minority communities. We see a trend where Manglore is used as an experiement city by few political leaders for thier own gain and vote banks. If these political leaders are successful, they will do the similar tactics in other large cities where people have been living peacefully and in harmony with all religous followers.

    It is a matter of concern for all people of good will. There is no rhyme and reason to what is happening around in the name of God and Indian culture! We need to live as human beings, respecting life in every other person created in God's image and likeness, no matter to which relgion they belong. Hoping that peace returns to our land.
