Moodbdri: 18-year-old girl ends life after failing to clear PU exam

Moodbidri, Apr 16: An 18-year-old PU student committed suicide after she failed in the board exam.

The decease has been identified as Prathiksha, a resident of Hinnalapalke in Mantrady.

She had prepared for the exam at a tutorial in Moodbidri and appeared for the PU board exam in private.

 


After the exams, she had gone to her uncle's house in Pune. On Monday, she took the extreme step after the results were out.

Her body was brought to her native place on Tuesday April 16 and the final rites were held.

    I saw many messages on Face book and social networks boasting about marks that is 96%, 99% etc. Agreed it's a joy when your kids gets good marks. At the same time it's not a loss if some one gets low marks or fails in exams. Failure will lead to success. Parents and teachers need to counsel the kids properly so that they should be ready to face any failures in right spirit. RIP to the young girl and sad to see that many suicides nowadays due to exam tensions. Those parents boast about their kids on social media please stop doing so as exams are not the only criteria to judge kid's wisdom. There are many successful people in the world who are failures in academics.

    Dear students, please failure is not the end, its a extra education and a lesson. always please don't get upset for any failure because nothing is impossible in the world. as, failure can give extra education and a talent . You can try again until you get the end. Also parents, please , be friendly with your children comfort them instead of shouting, and always keep a focus on them try to understand their thinking too. teachers please make sure you counsel the students before writing exams and results and comfort the children.

    Please make the students to understand that failure is the steppingstones for success.
    Everyone achieve something after failure
    Look into the life of many great personalities they all achieved after failure

    Look into the last 10 years data of suicide cases (suicide relating with exam failure),
    the majority are girls ..!!!
    Seriously the education board has to take bold step on resulting system .. !! Otherwise it will never end..!!

    she was so young and taken a very very wrong ,hard step just because she failed in exams.Thatswhy my appell to parents.Kindly watch your child after exams specially when they are failed or not satisfied in results.Dont leave them out of your eyesight.encourage them not to worry if failed a nd can appear at supplimentary exam and can pss .Failure once in exam might be failure of teachers who correct papers so there is a chance to review them .ask for a sight in correction .It might be a success .There are many more exams in life harder than this school exams.May her soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to parents.

    Agree with your view…
    But what about friends circle ..!! the friends may give different suggestion / advise & which may be cause of this kind of taking step.. we never knew , and yet again we can’t blame parents as well … (here we should understand till 18years parents took care of her and all off sudden why they leave her alone..) for everything we cant say its parents problem...
    The only thing is the education board has to take step on resulting system…. !!

    Yes Anil. Sometimes, parents get angry and say some words. They compare the marks. Most worst thing is here, many a times, those relatives get up once, after the public results are out and ask percentage. Whole year they don't bother to call. Parents take trouble, they feed, they pay, they take care. Finally, inquiries /insults/gossips/discouragement done by those well wishers. Listening to them parents get upset. My sympathies to her family. May her soul rest in peace.. 🙏
