Mangaluru, Apr 16: India meteorological department (IMD) has predicted normal rainfall this rainy season. There is no delay in arrival of monsoon this time.
The farmers, who were in dire straits on account of erratic monsoon seasons in successive years, have now heaved a sigh of relief.
Almost half of the agriculturists in the country are dependent on monsoon for raising crops. The prediction of the department that there will not be any shortfall of rain this year has brought cheers to the farmer community. The news has also brought cheers to the ruling class as the country's economy is expected to record robust growth in the coming year.
As per the calculation of his department, taking into account average rainfall in the past, the monsoon rain will clock 96 percent of normal rainfall this year.
"There will be normal rainfall across the country from June to September," Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences M Rajeevan said.
