Mandya, Apr 16: With just two days left for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, on Monday, was seen shedding tears once again by explaining about his health issues while seeking votes for his son Nikhil.
Campaigning for Nikhil at KR Pet, Kumaraswamy explained about his near-death experience during his visit to Israel and his heart problem. "I had stopped shedding tears in the public. But when JD(S) state president A H Vishwanath told me that nobody is understanding my situation and health condition, I am not able to control my emotions today,” he said.
"I have not been able to govern with a calm mind right from the day I became chief minister. If I had won 120 seats, there would have been no problem,” he added.
"As soon as I heard about Ambareesh's death, I rushed to the hospital, but Sumalatha was not there. I made all arrangements to bring Ambareesh's body to his house so that people could pay their last respects. Why should I have done all this? Now, she sheds tears and speaks against me, without showing the minimum courtesy,” he said criticizing Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh.
"Sumalatha, who was against bringing the mortal remains of Ambareesh to Mandya, is now shedding tears before the people. It was the JD(S), which made Ambareesh an MLA. Deve Gowda and I turn emotional when we see people in crisis. I do not know, why she cries," he said.
He criticised the media by saying: "I am not living because of the media. I am alive only because of the people".
