Hyderabad, Apr 15: B Lavanya (25), a system engineer at TCS Synergy Park in Gachibowli, was killed and her body was throttled and stuffed up in a suitcase dumped in a city drain by her boyfriend Sunil Kumar (25).
Sunil Kumar, a structural engineer in a city-based company, was reportedly harassing and pressurizing the girl to marry him. Lavanya’s family had been trying to reach her through phone since her missing on April 7. Police arrested Sunil on Saturday night using his call history details.
Lavanya and Sunil Kumar fell in love while pursuing their engineering degree at CMR College of Engineering and Technology. But the college love story had a short life and ended in a tragic agony.
As per TOI report, Sunil Kumar were lying to the girls family that he got a job in Muscat and was ready for the marriage. RC Puram inspector P Ramchandra Rao said. “After Lavanya’s family dropped them at the RGI Airport on April 4, Sunil told her that their flight was cancelled and checked into the Airport Lodge saying that they will take the next day’s flight,” ACP S Ravi Kumar said. “Lavanya again raised the topic of marriage at the lodge and an argument broke out between them. Sunil throttled her and then stuffed the body in a suitcase on April 5 evening. That night he took the body to Sooraram in the city and dumped it in a drain,” the ACP said, adding that it was concealed in the drain under a ramp in front of local school so people did not notice it.
On April 7 Sunil sent messages from Lavanya’s phone to her sister saying she had landed in the city and then switched it off. The family got anguish and lodged a missing complaint since her phone was unreachable for a long time. “Based on Sunil’s confession, we recovered the body. He was produced before a magistrate on Sunday and sent to judicial remand,” the ACP said to TOI.
