Bengaluru, Apr 15: Second PU results have been announced. Udupi has stood first and Dakshina Kannanda has stood second, while Kodagu is in the third place.
The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) on Monday declared the results of the Pre-University II-year examination (PUC) at 11 am.
Addressing a press meet C Shikha, PUE director, joined by the officials said, "Udupi district has topped the Karnataka 2nd PUC class 12 result 2018 followed by Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu,"
The results will be out on these websites - kseeb.kar.nic.in and karresults.nic.in from 12 pm onwards.
The overall pass percentage this year is 67.73 percent and candidate of Udupi district have topped the Board exam.
Like every year, girls have outperformed boys.
Olvita
Olvita Ancil D’Souza from Alva’s College in Moodbidri scored 596 out of 600 to stand first in the state in commerce section.
Swathi
Swathi from MGM College, Udupi scored 592 out of 600 bagging third rank in Science in state. Swathi is the daughter of Uday Shankar and Girija Nayak from Ambagilu.
Speaking to Daijiworld, she said, “I am very glad that I got good marks in PUC. I was expecting to score above 595. I put lots of effort on a daily basis.”
Shreeya
Shreeya Shenoy of Canara PU College Mangaluru, stood second in the state scoring 595 marks in commerce. She is the resident of Bikarnakatte and daughter of Ganesh Shenoy and Shalini Shenoy.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Shreeya said, “I am very delighted by my performance. I did not expect to stand second in the state. I have never been to any tuition. It is my teachers who taught me and I could secure good marks. I am planning to do CA.”
Swasthik
Swasthik P of St Philomena PU College secured third rank in the state in commerce securing 594 marks. He is the proud son of Krishnamoorthy and Vidya. He hails from Madavu.
The pass percentage among girl students is 68.2%. Around 80 colleges have registered 100% pass percentage; implying that all the students who appeared from these colleges have cleared the exam. Out of these 80 colleges, 15 are government colleges. With a pass percentage of 66.39, just like last year, commerce students have scored better than any other stream. Science students had a pass percentage of 66.58%.
DDPU Subrahmanya Joshi speaking to Daijiworld said, “We are happy to see Udupi rank first in the state in PUC result. It is the fruit for students’ hard work. It is the collective effort of students, teachers and parents. Less number of students were absent at the exams this time. Three preparatory exams were conducted. We were expecting the first or second place. But due the God's grace Udupi came first. I would like to congratulate all the students who put their efforts to reach this level.”
District-wise pass percentage:
Udupi tops with 92.20 per cent
Dakshina Kannada second with 90.91 per cent
Kodagu third with 83.31 per cent
Chitradurga last with 51.42 per cent
