Kundapur, Apr 15: Police head constable, who was seriously injured in a hit and run incident here yesterday, succumbed to injuries on Monday, April 15.
An unknown vehicle had hit his bike on Sunday evening at Mabukala Bridge, near Brahmavar.
Tallur Uppinakudru resident Chandrashekhar (43) is the person deceased. He was employed as head constable in Kundapur police station.
Chandrashekhar was taken to a hospital in Manipal after he was seriously injured. But not responding to the treatment, he breathed his last on Monday afternoon.

Kundapur: Policeman hit by unknown bike – critically injured
A Kundapur police head constable was seriously injured in a hit and run incident here. An unknown vehicle hit his bike on Sunday evening at Mabukala Bridge, near Brahmavar.
The injured head constable is identified as Tallur Uppinakudru resident Chandrashekhar (43). He is employed as head constable in Kundapur police station at present.
Chandrashekhar was returning home on his bike after some work from Udupi while the unknown vehicle that approached behind him hit his bike and fled. Chandrashekhar has sustained critical injuries to his neck and head after the bike was thrown to the roadside divider in the impact. It is said that he was lying in the pool of blood for about ten minutes after the accident. Meanwhile Kundapur SI Harish and driver Harish who came from Udupi took Chandrashekhar to the hospital.
It is said that Chandrashekhar has received injuries to the head and the brain. His heart is beating but doctors are doubtful of his survival. Udupi district SP Nisha James, DySP Dinesh Kumar, Kundapur SI Harish and others visited the hospital.
Chandrashekhar has worked in the police department for the last 17 years. He has been working as a writer during the last two years. He has wife and two children.
A case stands registered in Brahmavar police station regarding the matter.
