Udupi, Apr 12: "Politics was earlier treated as the last resort of idiots, perverts and the ribald. With his principled life, commitment to values, and ideal way of life, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has turned this profession into trustworthy and noble one," said BJP national joint organizing secretary, B L Santhosh.
He was speaking at an intellectually inspiring symposium on the subject of 'building of new India - my role' for women at Hotel Country Inn Manipal on Thursday April 11.
Santhosh felt that beliefs, ideals, and culture should form part of one's life and not turn into an ism. Those in power in politics should behave and work in such a way that they should bring smiles on the face of the last person in the country, he felt. He drew the attention of the crowd to the fact that the influence of 'Ujwala' scheme of the central government is now being studied by World lHealth Organization.
He drew the attention of the participants to the fact that the union government provided electricity connection to 18,600 villages and provided corruption-free governance. He noted that unlike in the past, safety of the country, price rise etc are no more issues of this election. He stated during the five years of NDA government, works worth Rs 20 lac crore was tendered and no corruption was involved.
Santhosh blamed the Congress, which he accused of sowing seeds of caste in everything, of now trying to divide soldiers on the lines of caste and creed. "Our Prime Minister had promised not to accept bribe and not allow others to indulge in corruption. He has stood by his word. Under an initiative launched by him, 1.07 crore people have opted not to claim LPG subsidy. Success is ours, if we are able to unite and march ahead," he stressed.
Dr Pushpa Kini, pediatrician from KMC Manipal, presided. Udupi MLA, K Raghupati Bhat, BJP district president aMttaru Ratnakar Hegde, K Uday Kumar Shetty, zilla panchayat member, Shilpa Suvarna and others were present.
