Mangalore, Mar 13: The state high court, through a judgment pronounced on Thursday March 12, declared that B Krishna Aithal is eligible to be the hereditary trustee of Mangaladevi temple in the city.
A long-drawn legal battle had been going on among the four brothers on the hereditary trusteeship issue. With the above order, the issue has been settled. Justice N Kumar who pronounced the judgment, also directed that the disputes on other issues should be got settled through the civil court.
The Aithal family has been vested of the hereditary trusteeship of the temple since the 1960s. After their father died, the four children had a disagreement on who should be the next trustee. As all the four claimed to be eligible for the post, the dispute went before the endowments commissioner. He had settled the issue in favour of Harish Aithal.
Aggrieved by the order, Krishna Aithal had preferred an appeal against this order. After conducting hearing, the High Court held that he was right.
