Bengaluru, Apr 8: With the first phase of Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, campaigning has reached all-time high, with supporters coming up with all sorts of ways to spread the good word about their candidates.
At Orion Mall here, it was a musical treat for the shoppers as supporters of Congress candidate for Bengaluru North constituency Krishna Byre Gowda broke into a flash mob.
The group of 30-plus dancers and 25 volunteers surprised the crowd at the Bengaluru mall with placards reading ‘With You, For You’, the theme of the campaign as well as picture boards that when held together formed the face of the MP candidate.
Krishna Byre Gowda is contesting against union minister and incumbent MP Sadananda Gowda of the BJP.
Currently, the minister of rural development, law and parliamentary affairs in the Karnataka government, Krishna Byre Gowda being the Congress candidate for the constituency was an eleventh-hour decision after JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda opted to contest the elections from Tumakuru.
Speaking to media, Krishna Byre Gowda expressed confidence that people of Bengaluru North will give their mandate to Congress to serve them for the next five years in the Lok Sabha.
He also stressed on the importance of voting and expressed concern on the low voter turnout in the cosmopolitan constituency.
"It does not matter who you vote for, but it is important to vote, especially for the young voters," he said.
Sharing the video on Twitter, the minister said, "I was “happy” to connect with young voters at Orion Mall this evening during the flashmob organised by my volunteers, Choose to have a happy future by voting wisely. Make a conscious choice, make the right choice. Choose the right candidate for you (sic)."
