Mangaluru Apr 8: The third edition of Nitte International film festival (NIFF) was inaugurated by director and national award winner P Sheshadri here at Bharath Cinemas on Monday April 8. The four-day festival will conclude on April 11.

Speaking on the occasion, P Sheshadri said, "Festivals are meant to raise questions. We will not always get our answers in literature, music, and art.  We will have to find the answers within. It is commendable that NITTE is organizing this event on a large scale,”

"Every year more than 250 films are produced, Out of that, 5 to 6 good films are made. Good audiences emerge when good films are made. My first film Munnudi was shot in Mangaluru and ran for 5 weeks in Mangaluru theaters. Mangalureans always welcomed good films wholeheartedly. This International film festival is an eye-opener for other institutions too.” he added.

Pro Chancellor NITTE Dr Shantharam Shetty pointed that great actor Gurudutt and Sunil Shetty are from Mangaluru. “Films need to be educative on a large scale and it is our duty to make such films.” he said.

More than 70 films of different language and genres are expected to be screened in the four-day festival.

Convener of Nitte International Film festival Prof Raviraj welcomed the gathering and Maithrei compered the event.
