Bengaluru, Apr 7: On Saturday April 6, Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, who has been appointed state vice president of BJP after denying her Lok Saba ticket from the city (south) constituency, tweeted, appreciating Nikhil, son of chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy.
She said that there are things one can learn from Nikhil, JD(S) candidate from Mandya, duly pointing out that media reports said he consumes tender coconut water without using the straw. She reasoned that every day people, particularly in the city, drink tender coconut water and throw away straws. She pointed out that these straws cannot be recycled, and as such, they reach water bodies, forests or earth, and create problems for the animals. She called upon the people to stop using straws.
Recently, some Kannada television channels had carried the video footage of Nikhil drinking tender coconut water without using straw in a village in Mandya district. Tejaswini referred to this incident in her tweet.
Tejaswini, who was helping her husband in political field, has also been involved with social service through different organisations. One of such organisations, 'Adamya Chetana' has been active in the field of environment protection.
Some have responded to the tweet by praising Tejaswini for her concern towards protection of nature. There have also been objections from certain people for giving the example of Nikhil in her tweet.
