Udupi, Apr 6: President of Bar Association from Brahmavar has been arrested for misbehaving and stopping election officers from discharging their duty.
Govindaraj Hegde on March 26 had threatened to lodge complaint against election officers when flying squad from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency raided a bar and restaurant in Sahebarakatte in Yadthady gram panchayat limits.
The bar owner had phoned Hegde about the raid. The association president immediately arrived at the spot and threatened of lodging complaint against the officials. He also misbehaved and stopped them from discharging their duty.
A complaint was registered against him in this regard at Brahmavar police station. Hegde who was on the run since then, was arrested on Saturday, April 6 at Sakleshpur.
He was later granted interim bail.
