Mangaluru, Apr 1: D K Shivakumar, state minister of Irrigation and Congress leader arrived in the city on Monday, April 1 to participate in various election campaign programmes of Congress.
Mithun Rai, Congress’ candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, Harish Kumar, president, District Congress Committee, J R Lobo, former MLA and other leaders received D K Shivakumar at the airport.
Speaking to media, Shivkumar said, “Congress has fielded Mithun Rai, a young and energetic youth as a candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency. We all know that people of Dakshina Kannada want change. They believe that only a young and qualified representative can become their voice in the assembly. I know Mithun Rai and day by day he is receiving massive support from all corners of the district.”
When reporters asked about Amit Shah’s visit to Bengaluru rural constituency, he said, “I am not bothered about anyone’s visit to my constituency. BJP has started their election campaign and it is common for leaders to visit and participate in meetings. We are not bothered about the BJP leaders’ visits.”
From the airport D K Shivakumar headed towards district Congress office. In the day long visit, he will participate in various discussions with Congress leaders and party workers. He will participate in a few election campaign meetings too. It is learnt that Mithun Rai is a close aide of D K Shivakumar and he supported Mithun to get the Lok Sabha ticket from Dakshina Kannada constituency.
