Udupi, Mar 26: Union defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, visited Sri Krishna Math here on Tuesday March 26 morning and paid obeisance to the presiding deity. On this occasion, Paryaya Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Math prayed on her behalf and handed over blessed rice by way of Lord's blessings.
MLA, Raghupati Bhat, BJP candidate from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, Shobha Karandlaje, BJP leaders, Uday Kumar Shetty, Shreesha Nayak, Pradeep Rao, Vijay Bhat, Bharathi Shetty, Suvardhan Nayak, Paryaya Math public relations officer, Shreesha Bhat, and several others were present.
On this occasion, the minister said that she has a request to be made to the Paryaya Swamiji, who is a spiritual head, on behalf of the worldly affairs of the country. She requested the Paryaya Swamiji to offer prayers to Lord Krishna beseeching the welfare of the country and also for Narendra Modi to return as the Prime Minister of the country. She said she wants to pray to the Lord to see that the country is entrusted to safe hands, and sought His blessings to see that BJP forms the government at the centre again.
Nirmala said that she has been in touch with Udupi Sri Krishna Math and Kollur temple since long. She promised to take part in the Brahmakalashotsava ceremony of the Math planned to be held shortly.
Palimar Swamiji on this occasion, appealed to the defence minister to send Abhinandan, who had shown exemplary patriotism and daredevilry during the recent air strikes. He said that he wants to honour Wing Commander Abhinandan at Sri Krishna Math in appreciation of his deeds. The Swamiji wanted the minister to convince the defence ministry to depute Abhinandan to Udupi for the purpose.
Nirmala Sitharaman requested him to send a formal letter to the ministry of defence putting forth these things. She said she does not have any objection in arranging Abhinandan's visit here if there are no legal hurdles.
