Mangaluru, Mar 25: Evaluation work of answer sheets of second year PU examination has begun today all over the state. Taking serious view of the threat of boycott posed by evaluators in the past for various reasons, the department has been taking steps to initiate stringent disciplinary action against anyone not cooperating with the work.
The work of coding, decoding, and appointment of deputy evaluators has already been completed. The department plans to take note of the absentees and initiate action against them. Information about the deployment of the staff for evaluation was sent to principals online and they were expected to download the information and convey the same to the evaluators. In case of absence of any evaluators, the principals would be held responsible, the department has warned. Education Act section 28 and 122 provide for imprisonment, fine or both for not attending to evaluation work and the department plans to rely on these provisions in case of any problems.
Acting deputy director of PU education, Alvira Philomena, said she does not expect any hiccups in the valuation work being conducted in seven centers here, as the Dakshina Kannada PU College Principals Association has pledged full support for the evaluation work. Vittal of the association says that the association will cooperate fully with the department in view of the future of the students. He said that meeting of their demands is also important but at present, evaluation work would be completed on priority.
