Bantwal, Mar 23: Two persons have been arrested by the police after trouble erupted over survey of a land at Panemangaluru in Narikombu gram panchayat limits here on Saturday March 23.
On Saturday, the cops had been to Akkarangady for a survey of land belonging to the local mosque. This resulted in a heated exchange between a group that was opposed to the survey and the cops. The group allegedly attempted to attack two SIs, to which police resorted to mild lathi-charge.

According to a complaint filed in Bantwal police station, when complainant Tasleem Arif (35) was returning was returning from Akkarangady mosque after doing the survey work, the accused identified as P S Sajjad, P S Imran, P S Lateef, P S Razak and others came in a bike and waylaid Arif's car. The men allegedly threw insults at Arif and and manhandled him. When the locals came to Arif's rescue, the accused threatened him of further assaults and fled the spot.
It is learnt that Arif and a person identified as P S Abdul had a dispute over the survey of the mosque, due to which Abdul was facing problems. Assuming that Arif was the cause of the problems, the accused allegedly targetted him.
The police have arrested Imran (28) and Abdul Lateef (35) in this regard. Further investigations are on.
