Beltangady, Mar 22: In an incident, that has come light bit late, four children were admitted to hospital after consuming the food that was made from the water of the river that is flowing nearby their home, in which the miscreants had put poison in order to catch the fish. This incident is reported from the Savanalu village of the taluk, the point of confluence of two streams of river Phalguni.
It is said that certain people had poured copper sulphate (Mailu Thutthu) into the river to catch fish. As the same water was used by the residents of homes near the river for cooking, the children who consumed the food made from the poisoned water fell ill. They have been admitted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru.
It is also learnt that the complaint with regards to this incident was not registered by the residents of the homes of the children who are sick because of threat by the people who are involved in the act.
Circle inspector Sandesh P G has visited the spot and is conducting further investigations.
