Bangalore: 'Congress Suffering from Incurable Disease, BJP with AIDS'

Bangalore, Feb 25: There was an exchange of interesting accusations and repartees between energy minister K S Eshwarappa and leader of the opposition in the assembly Mallikarjun Kharge at the ongoing assembly session here on Tuesday February 24.

As soon as assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar announced that he had accepted the resignation tendered to the membership of the house by Congress MLA Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli on February 4, Kharge sprang to his feet to ask as to whether Nagamarapalli was suffering from any disease, and if not, what other reasons had he sighted for his resignation. Shettar responded by saying that Kharge will have to ascertain the reasons on his own.

Kharge followed up, by saying that he expected the speaker to question Nagamarapalli about the disease he is afflicted with, and as to whether he was admitted to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) hospital in the city. Energy minister Eshwarappa rose to quip, that the Congress Party was suffering from an incurable disease and that the ex-MLA had informed him that he was resigning as the Congress Party can never achieve the progress of the state.

Angered Kharge retorted by saying that Gurupadappa does not know that the BJP is suffering from AIDS. "His future will be in doldrums even before he can realize what mistake he has committed and repent over that,” he said.  Not to be outdone, Eshwarappa said that the BJP is healthy and the state is progressing, and because of this fact, legislators are crossing over to the BJP.
