Mangaluru: Coast Guard rescue 15 fishermen from two boats stranded mid-sea

Mangaluru, Mar 21: The coast guard rescued 11 fishermen after their boat Emmanuel Kunhappa encountered engine failure at 46 nautical miles from Karwar on Wednesday March 20.

Kannur District Disaster Management Authority informed the DHO authorities about the drifting boat. Following the distress call, the Coast Guard regional headquarters (RHQ) and DHQ-3 immediately rushed to rescue 11 crew on-board.

The coast guard also rescued four fishermen after they received information about another boat Japamala Matha which was sinking due to technical snag at 75 nautical miles off New Mangalore Port.

DIG S S Dasila confirmed that all fishermen stranded in the sea have been rescued.
