Mangaluru, Mar 19: Kavoor police arrested a man from Puttur, employed in Saudi Arabia on arrival at Mangaluru International Airport on the early morning of Tuesday, March 19.
The arrested has been identified as Hakim. He is employed in Saudi Arabia and was returning home when he was arrested at the airport. He had prepared and sent an audio recording in social networks that former union minister Janardhana Poojary should be deported and killed in encounter.
Janardhana Poojary, in a programme held in Kudroli temple in December, had said that nobody can stop construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “Ram Mandir is the aspiration of Hindus, Muslims and Christians,”

The statement had caused heated discussions and opposition. Meanwhile a young man who introduced himself as Congress activist, had prepared an audio recording that Poojary should be killed in encounter and sent that audio in WhatsApp. The audio had gone viral.
Several people including former MLA J R lobo had submitted complaints to the then police commissioner T R Suresh urging for action against insult of Janardhana Poojary.
The complaint stated that it was an effort to spoil peace and harmony in the society and create a trench between religions. “Such low level statement in social media is illegal. The suspect has said that Janardhana Poojary is a traitor and called for his encounter,” the complaint mentioned.
Many complaints were registered in different police stations including cyber police station against the stranger. Police conducted investigations about the audio recording, came to know that the suspect was in Saudi Arabia and planned his arrest.
