New Delhi, Mar 14: With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the war of words between Congress and BJP on social media is heating up.
On March 14, Congress social media and communications head Divya Spandana aka Ramya tweeted a meme with PM Narendra Modi’s picture that read "Did you know? 1 out of 3 Modi supporters are just as stupid as the other two."
She also took a sarcastic dig by captioning the image as, "My favourite! Aren't they adorable?"
However, BJP supporters were quick to hit back.
One posted a similar meme carrying picture of AICC chief Rahul Gandhi. But here the meme read, “Did you know 3 out of 3 Rahul fans are as stupid as Rahul himself."
Another tweet attacked Divya. It read, "Did you know, that one of these two is as much of a failure in ACTING as she is in heading an IT cell?”
Political analysts have compared Spandana’s tweet to Hilary Clinton’s comment ahead of the 2016 US presidential elections. Clinton had called Trump’s supporters as “basket of deplorable” and had to bite her tongue when the supporter base ensured Trump's win.
Spandana was also booked for sedition in September 2018 for tweeting a photoshopped image of PM Modi with‘chor’ written on his forehead.
It’s not just the grand old party but even BJP is known for its sharp remarks on social media. BJP IT cell chief, Amit Malviya, had posted an image of Nehru hugging his sister and subtly suggested that the first prime minister of India is a womaniser.
