Bengaluru, Mar 13: Former MP of Mandaya and chief of social media of the Congress party Ramya tweeted on her account asking the public to vote in the upcoming election as a part of creating awareness on the importance of voting. However, the netizens took her to task as she herself has not voted on three previous occasions.
Ramya tweeted on her account, “All you young people, who are eligible to vote, make sure you register to vote. Time is running out. Here’s the link https://www.nvsp.in/. Make it count, the future is yours.”
Twitterati who got irate by Ramya’s tweet, commented angrily and stressed on the point that Ramya has not voted on three previous occasions. Some wrote “First you cast your vote. You do not have the right to tell anyone.” Others retaliated by saying, “Ramya, who has not voted three times gives lesson on ‘Voting awareness’. First come out of Delhi and vote, and then give advice to others.”
Ramya did not vote in last assembly elections of Karnataka. She also abstained from voting in the by-election that was held for Lok Sabha from the Mandya constituency. The people of Mandya had expressed their rage against Ramya during the last assembly elections for not voting being the chief of social media of the Congress party.
