New Delhi, Feb 18: A boy was murdered by his kidnappers who demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh, hours after his abduction in the national capital, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.
The body of Chintu (9), a student of an MCD school in Krishna Vihar, was found on Tuesday evening from fields in Kanjawala locality around 5.30 pm.
Chintu had gone to school from his Krishna Vihar residence around 12.30 pm on Tuesday. After some time, his mother got a call from unidentified persons claiming that the boy was in their custody and demanded Rs 20,000 for his release, the official said.
The kidnappers raised the ransom amount first to Rs 30,000 and then to Rs 3 lakh.
Chintu's father Lalit Sharma, who is a car driver, informed the police. A case of kidnapping was registered initially and search for the boy was started.
The boy was found dead in a field in Kanjawala later in the evening.
