Bangalore, Feb 16: Stung by the bad publicity that his government received over the last few weeks on issues ranging from moral policing to anti-terrorism awareness campaign, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa gave vent to his displeasure at a public function on Sunday.
"Is it a crime to talk about religion? Is it a crime to infuse patriotism in young minds", he asked while addressing a function of Sri Degula Mutt of Kanakapura in Ramnagaram district.
Stating that culture and respect for ancestors is the base of any religion, the chief minister said: "If at all our (Hindu) religion is still alive, it is because of the efforts of our ancestors. It is now our duty to take it forward, not destroy it as a section of people are doing now."
Taking a dig at the opposition and media, he asked: "Why do they get carried away and make judgments opposing it for the sake of opposition?"
