Mangaluru: Prostitution in lodge – four arrested, two women rescued

Mangaluru, Mar 5: CCB Police who received definite information about prostitution racket raided Surya Comfort Lodge at Kapikad, Bejai in Urwa police station limits and arrested 4 persons on Monday, March 4. Two women were rescued.

Chandrashekhar (36) from Bantwal, Nasir (26) from Uppinangady and Ashok(24) from Mannagudda and lodge owner Abdul Razak are the arrested persons.

Police also seized five mobile phones, Rs 19,500 cash and one Alto car from the arrested persons in this connection.

Two West Bengal based women who were being used by the suspects for the purpose were rescued and handed over to Women and children protection unit.

A person named Jeevan, who is believed to be a pimp, is absconding. The accused and seized items were handed over to Economic and narcotics police station for further action.

CCB unit inspector Shantaram, economic and narcotics police station inspector Ramakrishna and staff took part in the operation under guidance from police commissioner Sandeep Patil, deputy police commissioners Hanumantharaya (law and order) and Uma Prashanth (crime and traffic).
