Mysuru, Feb 12: In a controversial statement, Bharati Shetty, president of BJP Mahila Morcha said that there is no need for women in every aspect of life.
Bharati gave this controversial statement when answering questions from scribes in the city in a press conference.
"Boys drink alcohol in hotels and pubs. We do not want the equality in this matter for ladies saying that we will also drink in a similar manner. We want independence and not freedom. Let that be equality in only those things for women in which there is benefit for the women folk," said Bharathi.
Bharati further said, "Men cannot be equal with us. Likewise, it is not possible for us also to share equality with men. God has already decided as to what is required for which gender in his vision. The result will be as per his wish."
"Let women do not have all the freedom that men have. Personal freedom and religious freedom are different for women. Men drink in pub and restaurants in the night. I do not wish to have such freedom for women," added Bharati.
Bharati concluded by saying, "Women have traditional limits. In every religion, there is a boundary for women. I do not wish to toe that boundary. We oppose the entry of women in the Sabarimala temple. The triple talaaq is bannned in order to solve the family problems of muslim women."
