Udupi, Jan 31: Additional deputy commissioner Vidyakumari has asked district social welfare officer to issue show cause notices to panchayats which have performed less than 50% out of panchayat funds reserved for scheduled caste and backward tribe projects. She was speaking in a progress review meeting of SCST and TSP programmes held in deputy commissioner’s auditorium on Thursday, Jan 31.
“Planned progress is not achieved under SC/ST sub projects in all the taluks in the district,” she said. The additional DC expressed dissatisfaction for not having achieved expected progress even though the financial year is about to be over. She asked to achieve physical and financial targets by March end, to make sure that the amount does not get wasted and to provide facilities to beneficiaries of SC/ST.
District panchayat assistant secretary Nagesh Raikar, district social welfare officer Bhujabali and district level officers were present.
