Kundapur, Jan 28: In connection with the murder of Yatish Kanchan (26) residing at Kota Kartattu Hunsebettu, and Bharat Shriyan (25) from Kota Barikere over a dispute arising out of digging a leech pit close to the house of their friend, Lohith Poojary by his neighbours, with sharp weapons, Udupi district superintendent of police, Laxman B Nimbargi, visited the spot. Deputy superintendent of police, Jaishankar, circle inspector, Narayana, Kota station house officer, Narasimha Shetty, and Brahmavar station house officer, Raghavendra, visited the spot and guided investigation.

After postmortem, the bodies were brought to their native place on Sunday afternoon. The friends of the deceased and members of general public kept the mortal remains on national highway and held protest. They demanded immediate arrest of the murderers. SP, Laxman Nimbargi, pacified the protesters. He told them that four special teams have been formed for the arrest of the culprits and exuded confidence of making the arrests soon.
Yatish and Bharat were classmates. Yatish had lost his parents at a young age and is currently residing at the residence of his aunts at Chitrapady village along with his brother. Yatish was a graduate, and during the previous assembly election, had functioned as personal assistant of Kundapur constituency Congress candidate, Rakesh Malli. He had shifted his base to Bengaluru but was on a visit to his native place to take part in an auspicious function when he was killed. Bharat, son of Barikere Ramanna and Parvathamma couple, was the elder of the two sons of the couple. He was an auto rickshaw driver by profession. He was a BBM graduate and was the president of Kalmadi Yuvaka Mandal.
