Bengaluru, Jan 26: With the objective achieving self-reliance in power and also contributing to the generation of green energy, public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) haw established its own 8.4MW wind energy power plant near Ilkalin Bagalakote district.

HAL CMD R Madhavan inaugurated wind energy power plant near Ilkal in Bagalakote district on January 25.

The power generated from this plant would be used for captive energy consumption at Bengaluru.

“We are glad that through this green initiative, HAL would reduce its carbon footprint by around 25,000 tons of CO2 emissions per annum. This project would cater to about 25% energy consumption at Bengaluru based divisions,” he said.

Madhavan said: “We are committed towards increasing the share of renewable energy in the overall energy consumption across the Company.’’

The wind energy plant comprising of four wind turbines was installed in collaboration with Suzlon Energy Limited has the potential to generate around 260 lakh units per annum with an estimated annual savings of around Rs 18 crore to the Company.

This is the second wind energy project that HAL set up at a cost of about Rs 59 crore.

HAL already owns a 6.3MW wind energy power plant near Davanagere.

A 3.5MW solar power plant is also operational in HAL Airport, Bengaluru

Together, all the renewable energy plants will meet around 50% of the electricity consumption of Bengaluru-based Divisions.

I hope HAL with a history of 70 years established during the Mysore Maharaja's time doesn't end up like our HMT watches to compromise its existence for Ambani's Reliance Defence.

Long live HAL and India on the Republic Day.

Union govt must recognize the achievements of HAL....,
It is sad to know that..., Union govt is pushing HAL to go bankrupt by holding legitimate payments for defense supplies..., thus forcing it to fault on crucial & critical deliveries on time..., indirectly using such defaults to limit orders to Public sector enterprises..., thus finding a reason to divert the defense orders to crony capitalists of private sector....!!!

Jokers...., good for DOMBARATA....!!! after all education matters....!!!!!

    girishaa,

Few years back when I was working in Bangalore, I have seen that the HAL work culture was similar to any government companies with no accountability. Only contract people used to work. Maximum workers were from reservation quota. In many cases permanent HAL employees just used to punch the card and escape outside or proxy is used to punch. It's better to permanently shut down this white elephant.

By seeing from out side you can't know what is happening inside same like bhakts closing their eyes & defending their master Feku.
I have worked in HAL for few years in all their divisions based in Bangalore & i can vouch they have best group of the skilled worker force which can compete world wide if given chance for example LCA, ALH are some of the few to mention. So check before you comment. They have catered to our IAF for last 75 years atleast.
