Udupi, Jan 25: “Karnataka State National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, department of Youth Welfare and Sports, NSS unit of Mangalore University and Government First Grade College, Hiriadka will jointly organise a two-day state level seminar on January 29 and 30 on Dr B R Ambedkar's thoughts at Government First Grade College Hiriyadka,” said Dr Nikethana, principal of Government First Grade College, Thenkanidiyur.
She was speaking at Udupi press club here on Thursday, January 24. She said, “The seminar will be inaugurated by Prof Abhay Kumar, SVP, Kannada Study Centre, and Mangalore University. Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon will preside over the function. Well-known thinker Dr Sadhashiva Marji will deliver the keynote address. President of Udupi zilla panchayat Dinakar Babu, president of Udupi taluk panchayat Nalini Pradeep Rao, member of Udupi zilla Panchayat Chandrika C J, and member of Udupi taluk panchayat Laxminaravana Prabhu will be the guests.
“State NSS officer Dr Gananatha Shetty Ekkaru, regional director of NSS Khadri Narasimhayya, joint director of Collegiate Education Mangaluru Dr Appaji Gowda, and NSS co-ordinator of Mangalore University Prof Vineetha Rai will be the special invitees. The two-day seminar will highlight on various issues like Dr Ambedkar's thoughts and present political system, Dr Ambedkar's thoughts and intent of the Constitution, and Dr Ambedkar's thoughts and challenges in equality.
Rajashekhar. Amrutha Deekayya, Prof Mahabaleshwara Rao, Dr Mohanchandra Gutti, Prof Rajendra S Nayak, Dr Prashanth Nayak, Prof Phaniraj, Prof Kiran Gajanooru, Dr Udaya Kumar Shetty, Dr M Dinesh Hegde, Jyothi Chelyaru, and Dr Bhaskar Shetty Salwadi will attend as resource persons and moderators of the sessions.
The closing ceremony will be held on January 30. Famous journalist and thinker Shivasundaram will address the gathering. State NSS implementation officer Dr Poornima Jogi will be the chief guest. Dr Nikethana, principal, Government First Grade College, Thenkanidiyur, will preside over the function. NSS programme officers and volunteers from different colleges of the state will take part in the two-day programme.
