Mangaluru: Two held for trying to cheat with lure of foreign currency

Mangaluru, Jan 19: Two persons of West Bengal origin, identified as Muhammed Saleem (33) and Nasrul Islam (56), stand arrested by the personnel of Bunder police station here.

It is said that the two had offered to provide UAE Dirham foreign currency notes to Ibrahim Khaleel on January 16. They took him close to Ramakanthi theatre claiming they had currency notes worth seven lac rupees. The two had tried to make Khaleel believe that a bundle of old papers covered in seven Dirham notes they offered him contained currency worth seven lac rupees. Ibrahim, who grew suspicious, questioned the two, at which they took to their heels. Ibraim Khaleel then filed a complaint at Bunder police station.

Under the guidance of city central subdivision assistant police commissioner, Bhaskar Vakkaliga, Bunder police inspector, Suresh Kumar P and sub-inspector, Pradeep T R along with staff succeeded in arresting the acused.
