Bengaluru, Jan 18: “Bengaluru central is mini India for me. Therefore, I will contest Lok Sabha elections as independent from there. Congress party can support me,” said multilingual actor and social activist Prakash Raj.
Addressing a news conference in Bengaluru Press Club, the 53-year-old actor said that he has taken the decision after thinking for about three months. “I was born in Marthas Hospital. I have lived in Chamarajpet and Shantinagar. I have several relatives there,” he said.
“Elections were fought on the basis of caste and money power so far. I want to fight for the people. I have decided to be the voice of the people as laws are framed for people. We have posed several questions in ‘Just asking’ since the last six months. There were no answers. Our MPs do not become the voice of people in Lok Sabha. They become slaves of others after winning elections. Therefore, I have decided to plunge in election fray,” he said.
“I will prepare the manifesto later after asking people what they want. Operation Kamala is like ‘Dombarata’. I am not speaking against any one party. I am against any party or person who is communal,” he said.
Speaking about Mahagathbandhan, he said that he will join hands with the forces that challenge communal policies.
